Gili Air, Indonesia

Finding true paradise can be a challenge in today’s world. We never intended on going to Gili Air. We just kind of found ourselves there. I know that sounds a bit daft but that’s exactly how it happened. We flew to Denpasar, Bali from Phnom Penh, Cambodia and immediately needed to get out. No offence Denpasar, you just were not for us. A day’s car and boat ride later we ended up in an unexpected paradise called Gili Air.

Gili Air is part of an archipelago of three islands off the North West coast of Lombok, Indonesia. No cars, only horse and cart. Six square miles of land mass in the Bali Sea. A divers haven and one of the last points of true remote paradise in the world. If you’re coming here from Europe it will take you 4 days, but the weariness of your journey will very soon fade, and you will be taken in fully by this incredible and tiny land.
